Wash Operator

Nature of Work:
Responsible for loading and unloading circuit boards into an in-line cleaning wash machine to ensure all unnecessary chemicals and solder fragments are removed before assemblies are tested and shipped. Reports to their department Team Leader, and/or Department Supervisor.

Duties and Task Statements: in-line wash
  • Review the on-line assembly instruction in the wash section prior to washing. A computer is located in the wash work center. The purpose for reviewing the instruction is that some assemblies cannot go through the wash process, need to use the batch cleaner only, or may have special handling requirements.
  • May be required to administer the cleanliness test (Ionic contamination) to ensure circuit boards are washed properly.
  • Verify machine parameters with data supplied by Process Engineers to ensure the machine is operating at correct temperature and pressure.
  • Switch between the positions of loader and catcher to ensure the most efficient operation in order to meet customer commitments both internal and external.
  • Perform routine machine cleaning on the surface to prevent dust buildup which could end up on the cleaned assemblies.
  • Blow off circuit boards with an air gun when extra drying such as connectors.
  • Transfer all circuit boards to the outgoing rack in order to ensure that the product is dispatched in a timely manner.
  • Special handling for assemblies is outlined in the work instruction for the wash.

Formal Interaction with Others:
Interacts with staff members of the department as well as production floor personnel. Communicates with the Group Leader, Supervisor and/or Department Manager to obtain direction, assistance, and to address concerns.

Work Environment:
The work setting consists of a production environment with adequate lighting, comfortable temperatures, and a moderate to high noise level. The work schedule consists of a 40-hour workweek with overtime dependent on department needs. This position requires a lot standing throughout the 8 hour shift.

Minimum Qualifications:
No previous experience is required for this position.

Education
A High School education is required. Additionally, the employee will be required to successfully complete all internal training courses offered by the company necessary to do the job.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Employee must be self-motivated with the ability to work independently and in a team environment. Good oral and written communication skills are necessary. Attention to detail, organizational skills, and basic computer knowledge are essential. Employee must work safely at all times, and maintain confidentiality of all company and customer information.
