Accounting Specialist (Medford)
Employment type: full-time
Expanding local manufacturing plant is looking for an Accounting Specialist to join our staff.

Accounts Payable Functions:
  • Verify accuracy of invoices and statements
  • Enter and track all inbound freight invoices. Identify discrepancies and coordinate between shipping manager and carriers to resolve.
  • Code and enter accounting data into company database
  • Prepare invoices for check runs
  • Scan, file, and log accounting documents. Maintain and create folders and archive prior years physically and electronically.
  • Compile and prepare routine reports and summaries

Accounts Receivable Functions:
  • Retrieve remittance advice and payment supports from multiple sources. Backup must be matched with bank deposits and posted correctly in database. Review on-line transactions for accuracy and correct errors, including researching unapplied cash, researching needs for credit memos, and posting once approved.
  • Analyze financial information to identify discrepancies and resolve in a timely fashion
  • Communicate with customers directly regarding short-paid invoices and skipped payments
  • Manage freight claims & coordinate with shipping and follow up to ensure payment
  • Track commissions earned and paid in Excel
  • Responsible for collections
  • Disperse statements
  • Scan, file, and log accounting documents. Maintain and create folders and archive prior years physically and electronically.
  • Compile and prepare routine reports and summaries
  • Assist with preparation of financial statements and reports, fact checks, and research as needed
  • Prepare and maintain spreadsheets using basic mathematical calculations
  • Assist Controller with additional tasks as needed

Please note this is not a typical AR/AP position. The postings are complex and require high-level problem solving and critical thinking skills. Extreme attention to detail and a solid understanding of accounting principles is required.

Qualifications:
  • Thorough knowledge of office procedures and etiquette
  • Comprehensive working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. Advanced knowledge of Excel a plus
  • Able to communicate effectively and professionally in both written and oral form
  • Versatile, flexible and willing to work with changing priorities.
  • Comfortable working independently with general direction and minimal guidance
  • Treats others with respect, keeps commitments and upholds Core Values.
  • Comfortable working with all levels of management
  • Able to prioritize responsibilities and organize workload
  • Working knowledge of QuickBooks
  • Typing speed minimum 50 WPM
  • Excellent 10-key skills
  • Familiarity with basic Accounting principles
  • Minimum of three years? experience in an accounting-related position
  • Professional manner and strong ethical code
  • Ability to multitask and remain motivated and positive
  • Commitment to working efficiently and accurately
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Some overtime may be required

Working Condition Requirements:
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, talk or hear; continual use of hand and finger dexterity.
  • Occasionally required to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel or crawl.
  • Occasionally required to lift/push/carry items up to 25 pounds.
  • Occasionally exposure to outside weather conditions.
